Economic recovery could be slowed this year in the U.S. and around the world due to high oil and fuel prices. The price of oil last week remained above $100 per barrel and the Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently predicted there is a moderate chance oil prices by this summer could reach or surpass $125 per barrel.
EIA projected the price could average $100 per barrel for the year as a whole, compared to $94 a year ago.
Meanwhile, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline nationwide the first of last week reached $3.77, up 27 cents from the same time last year, the motorist group AAA reported.
The average price of diesel fuel surpassed the $4 mark in late February at $4.05 per gallon, up 34 cents from a year ago.
Jason Henderson, vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, recently said higher fuel prices will hit rural economies particularly hard as people in rural areas typically drive more and make less money compared to their urban and suburban neighbors.
“High gas prices strain rural budgets,” Henderson said. Source)
President Barack Obama said on Thursday the U.S. attorney general was assembling a team to root out any fraud and manipulation in the oil markets that might be contributing to higher U.S. gasoline prices. Earlier, the Justice Department announced the working group, which will include representatives from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Justice and Treasury.
Rising fuel costs have raised concerns about the strain on the economic recovery, with U.S. gasoline prices now averaging over $3.80 a gallon. Fuel costs that soared to over $4 a gallon in 2008 set off public outcry in the United States and caused motorists to scale back driving.

How you ask?
Well to describe it in basic terms it has been said that most of these gas stations get a large amount of their profit from convenience items. You know those convenient items you put off buying like morning coffee or cigarettes this items can! Be purchased somewhere else but we hold off until our morning trip and purchase it from them. Well what Real Woman Central is saying is that instead of giving them more of our hard earned money than we need to we only get gas from them and, NOTHING ELSE. Go somewhere else any where but a gas station.
There will be no more of this from the American people!!!!!
